Gold Work Talk with Wendy Major

July 17, 2017

Wendy is one of our Ashburton members who does a little professional teaching. Besides having an interest in Goldwork she also plays an active role in Ashburton with Local History. Recently with her interest in Goldwork,  she was given some old Victorian Clerical stoles that were going to be thrown out. These are shown on the picture below this text. Lovely work completed over a hundred years ago.

Wendy's own Goldwork is amazing. You can see some samples of her work below. We didn't realise how many types of Goldwork there was. She really enthused and inspired us and said that we need not have specific thread or material. Gold bric-brac, pieces of decorative ribbons and cords from presents sequins, beads and sequin waste can all be integrated into a piece of work. Looks as though we will all be collecting items from now as we have asked her to take a workshop for us next year.
